Comfortis Plus (aka Trifexis, Panoramis) is a chewable tablet that kills fleas and prevents infestations, protects against heartworms, and treats and controls adult hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm infections.

For: Dogs over 8 weeks of age and at least 5 lbs or over

Spinosad, an active ingredient in Comfortis Plus, starts to work within 30 minutes to kill fleas and has been proven to kill 100% of all biting fleas within 4 hours. Comfortis Plus also kills flea eggs before they can mature, which helps to end the flea life cycle. Comfortis Plus prevents heartworm disease by killing microfilariae and larvae from maturing into adult heartworms.

For dogs without flea and tick infestations, it works as an effective, long-lasting monthly topical preventative against fleas and ticks - just apply once a month.

Cautions:
Serious adverse reactions have been reported following concomitant extra-label use of ivermectin with spinosad alone, one of the components of Comfortis Plus chewable tablets. Use with caution in breeding females. The safe use of Comfortis Plus in breeding males has not been evaluated. Use with caution in dogs with pre-existing epilepsy. Puppies less than 14 weeks of age may experience a higher rate of vomiting.

What is the most important information I should know about Comfortis Plus:
A medication approved for use in dogs 8 weeks of age or older and 5 lbs of body weight or more. Comfortis Plus contains spinosad and milbemycin oxime and is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease. Comfortis Plus kills fleas and is indicated for the prevention and treatment of flea infestations, and the treatment and control of adult hookworm, adult roundworm, and adult whipworm infections.

What should I discuss with my veterinarian before giving Comfortis Plus to my pet:
Tell your veterinarian if you are planning on breeding your pet. Tell your veterinarian if your dog has a history of seizures (epilepsy).

How should this medication be given:
Give Comfortis Plus chewable tablets with food. Give Comfortis Plus chewable tablets once a month. Comfortis Plus chewable tablets may be chewed, offered in food, or administered like other tablet medications. If vomiting occurs within 1 hour of administration, redose the pet with another full dose. Store Comfortis Plus at room temperature.

What happens if I miss a dose:
Give the missed dose with food as soon as you remember and resume a monthly dosing schedule.

What happens if I overdose the pet:
Overdose of this medication is unlikely. However, if an overdose is suspected, contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room. Symptoms of overdose that may occur include vomiting.

What should I avoid while giving Comfortis Plus:
Your pet may maintain normal activities and interactions while being given Comfortis Plus. The safe use of Comfortis Plus chewable tablets in male dogs intended for breeding has not been established.

What are the possible side effects of Comfortis Plus:
Side effects that may occur include vomiting. If vomiting occurs within one hour of administration, redose with another full dose. Other side effects may occur. Continue giving Comfortis Plus chewable tablets and talk to your veterinarian if your pet experiences decreased appetite, lethargy or decreased activity, diarrhea, cough, increased thirst, vocalization, increased appetite, redness of the skin, hyperactivity and excessive salivation. Talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that seems unusual or especially bothersome to the pet.

What other drugs will affect Comfortis Plus:
Talk to your veterinarian before giving any prescription or over the counter medications.

I was so happy to hear that a combination medication was available to control all internal parasites and kills fleas. The only negative aspects are the cost and it does not help with ticks, however, I am still going to keep all my dogs on Trifexis. I did not have any problems with vomitting with any of my dogs, I followed the directions, mixed the tabs in with some steamed rice and chicken and they chowed down.. :)

Feed your pet a normal meal then give this pill. If you do not do this your pet will throw it back up & waste your money. My Bassets are on this and I LOVE IT!!!!! kills fleas within 30 minutes! If you look on the package your pill comes in it clearly states to give with a meal, so follow the directions and you will not have a problem!

I have given both my dogs Trifexis for the last 2 years and have never seen a flea nor had problems with worms. Heartworm exams have been clear. I love that this treats fleas and hearworms/worms, so for me it is worth the price. One other point to note is that the pill is rather large and is not flavored, BUT, I smear it with peanut butter and the dogs eat it right up! I always give them a meal with the pill and watch them inside for the next couple hours and they have never vomited afterwards, and my terrier has a sensitive stomach.

This product works so well. I just have a picky eater and I have to hide the pill in a piece of ham to get her to eat it. . Even though I have a slightly difficult time getting her to swallow it, I would definitely recommend trifexis to anyone.

I started using this product when my puppy Mastiff turned 8 weeks old. She had worms when I first put her on it and it was effective in killing them. I like that it prevents heartworm and also fleas, it would be nice if ticks were included but we have guineafowls that like the taste of them so we don't have many problems with them. on the 3rd month of taking the pill, she threw up about 6 hours after the pill but im not sure if she didn't get into something else that made her sick. Otherwise she eats it every month and hasn't been sick since.
